I just have a simple opinion question on the usefull or not so usefull canopies for JD 4000 series. I would like to purchase one to cut down on the amount of sun beating on me when mowing for extended periods of time. I wanted opinions if they tend to get in the way of everything... ie. trees, etc. Thanks for any comments

I have a canopy on my 4100 and like it. It is slightly wider and just a bit taller than the ROPS. If you currently drive close enough to "brush" tree or bush limbs with your ROPS, you can expect the canopy to catch even more. I just don't drive that close to trees. The noise level is a little higher. I can see the loader bucket at full height with no problem. I have attached 2 extra headlamps to the front corners of the canopy for improved visibility with the loader. There is a cavity around the complete inside edge which is useful for holding items such as towels, straps, ropes, gloves, sunglasses, etc. ....

check this site out: http://www.firebirdfiberglass.com/pages/bucktop1.htmlI have one of these on my 4600. cost was about $500. Works well with backhoe, front bucket, mower. Really helps keep the weather off, sun or rain, plus it looks good on the tractor. When mowing or cuting the fields I wear ear protection, with or without the canopy. ....

Just my opinion: JD highly recommends Curtis products, which means Curtis is a high quality, reputable company. Since you bought a JD, go with the canopy JD recommends. ....

I just bought a new 4100 with a canopy and had to take it off after just 2hrs and 2 wrecks.I have a lot of trees and you just can't watch the mower and canopy at the same time. All trees don't grow straight up.I will put it back on if I'm going to be out in the sun for any length of time,as it just takes 4 nuts to put it on. ....
